We have a beagle/lab mix that we’ve had for almost 3 weeks now. She is about 7 lbs and 11 weeks old. We got her from a rescue shelter where she was rescued with her litter mates. We don’t know much more about her history. We live in a two-bedroom apartment and we keep her in her kennel at night, in the second vacant bedroom. When we got her, the rescue shelter told us not to put any sort of bed or anything in the kennel with her at night because it gives them an absorbent area to go to the bathroom on. She has been barking all through the night every night. We can’t sleep and I’m scared I’m keeping the other people in our building up at night too. We put a washcloth in with her to give her a little something soft to lay on, and that helps a little, but she still wines/barks every night and it’s been almost three weeks now. We’ve even tried the ticking clock next to the kennel. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and find that my heart is just pounding. I don’t feel anxious so I don’t think it’s anxiety. I also notice that it only happens on days when I’v had a glass of wine at dinner. I started noticing it around Christmas because we were drinking wine for a few nights in a row and then I just noticed it again this week, and realized that I had a glass of wine with dinner.

I have a very low tolerance for alcohol and can get tipsy on even one glass. Does this mean I am allergic to alcohol? Does this mean I could die of a heart attack if I drink? Why does it always happen late at night only? And only when I drink? I’m 38.

Ive never experienced this before all my other pups have slept through the night at this age. I take her out before I got to bed. She is crate trained and every 2 to 3 hours she is scratching at the door to let me know she has to go. I take her food a way about 2 hours before we go to bed and I do not let her drink water right before we go to bed. I cover her crate with a blanket, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas on how I can get her to sleep through the night or at least most of the night? Also how ofter should a pup at this age be using the bathroom. She seems to go every hour or twice an hour. Thanks for the help.

I have two 10-month-old cats who go nuts in the middle of the night - running all over my apartment, jumping on my bed, scratching at the walls, meowing, biting my feet, etc. I love the little guys, but they wake me up 6-7 times a night!

Shutting my bedroom door doesn’t help much, since they just sit outside crying and scratching at the door.

Any tips on how to get them to calm down and (if possible) sleep through the night?
